Max's discovery

When Max was in Golden Bay for the weekend he found a little blue egg. He brought it in to show us. We think it might be a starling or robin egg. What do you think?

BIRD WATCHING

We went for a walk yesterday afternoon to see what birds were around Nelson Central School. We saw plenty of seagulls, sparrows and blackbirds. We also found a lovely pigeon that was very friendly. We think it is a homing pigeon. We had fun watching Tyler feed it some birdseed from out of his hand!

DISCOVERY TIME

On a Friday we have discovery time. We are learning to use our Key Competencies by co-operating with and listening to others, managing ourselves, sharing our ideas and using creative thinking.

On Friday we painted our flower pots ready for planting...

Had fun creating with recycled materials and making Lego movies...

And then we shared what we had done with the rest of the class...

Discovery time is one of our favourite times of the week!

MUSICAL SOUNDSCAPE

In Music we have been learning to use different instruments to create a soundscape.
We looked at a scene of a boat heading into a storm and then sailing back into the calm weather.
We decided what instruments could be the weather, boat, birds and the sea. Grace conducted us through the scene..
